Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Taxpipe uses cookies on taxpipe.co.uk. We are committed to being transparent about the technologies we use, the cookies we set, and how you can control them.

To keep our service affordable we run paid advertising on Google. For that to work, analytics and advertising cookies are enabled by default when you arrive on the site, and a banner gives you a clear way to change that on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time using the steps in Section 4.

2. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site owners. We also use similar technologies that store data in your browser's local storage.

3. Cookies We Use

We use three categories of cookies: essential cookies required for the site to function, analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site, and advertising cookies that measure the performance of our Google Ads campaigns.

Essential Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of the Service. They cannot be disabled.

CookiePurposeDuration
tokenAuth token that keeps you signed in to your account24 hours
refreshRefreshes your auth session automatically7 days

Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 and PostHog to understand how visitors use the site (which pages, which features, where they drop off). These cookies are set by default when you arrive, and are removed if you click Reject all on the cookie banner. If you choose Analytics only, these cookies remain set but advertising cookies are blocked.

CookiePurposeDuration
_gaDistinguishes unique visitors (Google Analytics)2 years
_ga_*Maintains session state (Google Analytics)2 years
ph_*Anonymous visitor and session identifiers (PostHog)1 year

Advertising Cookies

When you arrive from a Google Ads click, Google sets cookies that let us measure whether the ad led to a signup or a purchase. We never sell or share this data, and these cookies are blocked if you click Reject all or Analytics only on the cookie banner.

CookiePurposeDuration
_gcl_auStores the Google Ads click ID so we can attribute a signup or purchase to the originating ad (Google Ads)90 days
_gcl_awStores Google Ads conversion linker data (Google Ads)90 days
_gcl_dcStores DoubleClick conversion linker data (Google Ads)90 days

4. Managing Your Preferences

When you first visit the site, a cookie banner offers three options:

  • Accept all — analytics and advertising cookies are set (the default if you take no action).
  • Analytics only — analytics cookies are set, advertising cookies are blocked.
  • Reject all — all analytics and advertising cookies are removed and blocked. The page reloads so any cookies set on arrival are cleared.

To change your choice later, clear your browser's local storage for taxpipe.co.uk (this re-shows the banner) or use your browser's cookie controls to remove the cookies listed above.

You can also configure your browser to block all cookies, but this may prevent you from signing in to the Service.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if we introduce new cookies or change how we use existing ones. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the Service.

6. Contact
